A Story of Renewal
At Lucky Dubz Studio, every tattoo we create carries a story, and Chris’ story is one of strength, transformation, and hope. When Chris first walked into the studio, he wasn’t just looking for a piece of art—he was looking for a symbol of his journey. A reminder of everything he had overcome and the new life he was building.
Chris had battled with alcohol addiction for years. It had taken him to dark places, but through sheer determination and support, he fought his way back. Now, sober and filled with a renewed sense of purpose, Chris wanted something that would represent this chapter of his life—a permanent mark to symbolize not just what he had been through, but the bright future he saw ahead of him.
That’s when he came to me with the idea of a Phoenix.
Why the Phoenix?
The Phoenix, a mythical bird that rises from its own ashes, felt like the perfect metaphor for Chris’ journey. He had been through the fire, but he had come out stronger, ready to rebuild his life with a positive outlook. Together, we discussed how to bring this symbol to life in a way that would resonate deeply with him. Rather than a traditional Phoenix, Chris wanted something more abstract—something that reflected the unpredictability and chaos of his past, but also the beauty of his rebirth.
Lucky designed an abstract Phoenix with bold, sweeping lines that flowed across his skin. The man on the stairs, half-formed in circles and climbing upward, symbolized his ongoing journey—never perfect, but always moving forward. The tattoo found its place on his lower inner arm, a place where Chris could always see it, a reminder that no matter how hard things had been, he had the power to rise again.
Connected
As I worked, I could feel the weight of what this tattoo meant to Chris. It wasn’t just ink—it was his story, etched into his skin for the rest of his life. When the final lines were tattooed, Chris looked in the mirror and was amazed, a quiet but powerful sense of pride in his eyes. The Phoenix tattoo was more than just a piece of art; it was his victory, his proof that he had risen from the ashes and was ready for whatever came next.
For Chris, this tattoo is a constant reminder of where he’s been, but more importantly, where he’s going. It’s a symbol of hope, resilience, and the promise of a future filled with light.
Scripture
Lucky, our artist and owner of Lucky Dubz Studio is a disciple. He chose a powerful Bible verse that resonates with Chris’ story of overcoming his struggles and finding renewal in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV):
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
